Welcome to the Game III Walkthrough

Welcome to the Game III walkthrough: key collection order, threat window schedule, motel defense phases, and Normal mode route from first key to finale.

Insym's full run — key collection order, threat windows, and motel defense phases.

Welcome to the Game III walkthrough

This Welcome to the Game III walkthrough routes Simon Zhao through a full Normal mode clear: motel setup, recommended 8 key hash order, 52 dark web site progression, threat windows, and the finale branch toward the best ending. Read the beginner guide first if you are new to source inspection and panic lockdown basics.

Roguelite variance means exact URLs differ per seed, but phase goals stay stable. Verified July 22, 2026 · Reflect Studios · Steam.

Run prep — before key 1

Spend the first ten real minutes on motel security and PC economy, not random browsing. This Welcome to the Game III walkthrough front-loads purchases that pay off at 9:30 PM and when Lucas tests the rear door.

  • Do01Rear door locked before opening browser
  • Do02One meth bag in inventory max
  • Do03Notes file open with Key1–Key8 headers
  • Do04Parking lot cam visible on second monitor if possible

Motel checklist

Lock front and rear doors, map light switches, test panic button, cycle all security cameras. Pin the parking lot feed if the UI allows — Tanner is the phase-one boss.

Loot adjacent motel rooms for a single meth bag (Cletus tribute). Carrying extras invites inventory wipes.

DarkDrop essentials

Buy VirtMesh, ShadowFetch, A.C.R.S., and Backdoor Hack (5 DOS). Hijack UserJyx or WebTyk for mining; breach a second PC for browser mount.

Queue NOP Sled (15 DOS) and Motion Sensor before finishing phase one — see hacking guide build order.

Phase 1 — keys 1 and 2

Phase one teaches scanning discipline. Target progression forums and invitation-tier sites listed on your seed's Hive page — every page gets full source inspection.

CheckpointPass condition
Key 1 copiedExact casing preserved in notes
Key 2 copiedCross-site chain complete
EconomyVirtMesh mining + Backdoor installed
ThreatSurvived first Tanner or cam-clean run

Site order (flexible)

Visit Hive → Invitation Portal → first forum chain. Key 1 often hides in plain comment text or a image filename; Key 2 frequently requires a subpage only linked in source.

Do not open Red Room or hitman markets yet — they accelerate threat tables without helping early keys.

Tanner window

After ~45 in-game minutes many seeds roll first Tanner sweep. Run Tanner guide steps: panic, lock, lights off, wait for empty lot.

Resume browsing only when headlights are gone on cam for two full cycles.

Phase 1 exit criteria

Both keys pasted into notes, rear door verified locked, NOP Sled purchased, at least 40 DOS banked. If clock nears 9:30 PM, pause new sites until NOP is in inventory.

Phase 2 — keys 3 and 4

Phase two overlaps the 9:30 PM hack window and Lucas rear-door attempts. Split attention deliberately: finish a source copy before accepting a counter-hack prompt if audio is quiet.

Deep Wiki I gate

Keys 3–4 usually unlock Deep Wiki I sections. Paste prior keys only when the page explicitly requests them — premature submission routes toward incomplete endings (endings guide).

Competitor NPCs begin racing your bookmark list now. Check A.C.R.S. for competitor names; hire a cheap hack delay if someone sits on your needed URL.

Lucas + hack overlap

Install Motion Sensor and Earbuds early in phase two. On rhythmic rear knock: lock (if needed), hide in laundry cart, complete Stay Quiet minigame.

If counter-hack fires during Lucas, NOP Sled scroll then hide — dying to Lucas while typing K3RN3LC0MP1L3R is a classic walkthrough fail.

Tucker introduction

Tucker may trip breakers during phase two. Keep Flashlight purchased; freeze in card-marked room when intercom music plays before sprinting to breaker box.

Phase 3 — keys 5 and 6

Mid-run economy shifts to Pheonix / OpsHex mining and VirtMesh subnet mounts. Keys 5–6 often sit on mounted networks unreachable from the default browser VM.

EventWalkthrough response
Drone pickupCheckpoint first · sprint return path
Kidnapper vanLights off · monitor until gone
Cletus encounterSingle bag tribute
NPC steals mountA.C.R.S. offensive hack or wait respawn

VirtMesh mount routing

Upgrade VM Mount when DarkDrop offers it (~100 DOS). Breach deeper grid targets for subnets hosting Deep Wiki II fragments.

Rotate miners — lockout on Pheonix forces temporary OpsHex pivot per hacking guide tables.

Breather drone run

Bridge drone deliveries trigger Breather chase — no hide mechanic. Plan route back to motel door before grabbing package; sprint immediately on pickup.

Do drone runs right after hourly checkpoint saves.

Kidnapper & Cletus

White van on street cam: kill upstairs/downstairs lights, sit at desk until van leaves (killers guide).

Cletus tribute: one meth bag handoff when prompted in adjacent hall — never carry extras.

Phase 4 — keys 7 and 8

Late phase is Wade pressure without a hallway model — hacker spend spikes, Noir pairs appear, Bomb Maker site triggers possible. Slow down; precision beats speed.

  • Do01All 8 keys verified character-by-character
  • Do02Hourly save before Deep Wiki III submit
  • Do03NOP charges remaining ≥2 for finale overlap
  • Do04Read best ending flag checklist

Deep Wiki III

Keys 7–8 gate the finale portal. Re-read every note entry for typos before assembly. Wrong hash order sends you to incomplete or compromised endings instead of best ending.

Noir timing

Female Noir: turn away, count 10 seconds, turn back. Male Noir: 5 seconds. Use a real timer — early turns fail silently.

Bomb Maker sequence

Visiting Bomb Maker site starts defusal timer. Code arrives via dark web message — locate physical device in motel, enter code, return to PC only when safe.

Threat timers & escalation table

Threat density scales with key count and clock time, not real-world minutes. Use this table as a Normal mode baseline; 1337 compresses every window.

In-game timeTypical spawnWalkthrough action
6:00–9:00 PMTanner (lot)Cam glance each site

11:00 PM+Kidnapper · TuckerLights · breakers · freeze
Mid keys 5–6Breather (drone)Sprint route only
Late keys 7–8Noir · Bomb MakerTimer discipline

Audio priority

When multiple cues stack, prioritize physical killers over hack prompts — a failed hack costs DOSCoin; Lucas costs the run. Earbuds help separate rear knock from parking lot engine rumble.

Competitor NPCs & A.C.R.S.

Four competitor NPCs mirror your key progress. They can hire hackers, mount your targets, or permanently remove URLs from a seed until you counter-spend.

When to spend on offense

If a named competitor blocks your only path to Key 5, buy an A.C.R.S. hack delay (~variable DOS) instead of rerolling the entire run. Offense hacks use INJ3KT-R grids — different from defense minigames.

Do not bankrupt yourself on hitmen before Motion Sensor — sensors prevent more lost progress than slowing rivals by five minutes.

Rep grinding

Complete ShadowFetch MP4 tasks during mining downtime. Rep gates higher DarkDrop tiers needed for late VirtMesh scope.

Finale — ending branch

With all 8 keys assembled, Deep Wiki III presents debt-resolution choices tied to Wade's network. This walkthrough defaults to the debt-clear escape (best ending).

Finale hour is not a cutscene — killers and hackers keep spawning until credits. Treat the submit button like a boss phase: empty parking lot, rear locked, NOP Sled ready, lights configured for Kidnapper van RNG.

Pre-submit checklist

Confirm DOSCoin balance if finale requires payment. Confirm you did not trigger Abandoned Investigation flags by refusing story prompts earlier (endings).

Checkpoint save immediately before final portal click.

Alternate routes

Incomplete submission, captured during finale threat, compromised PC, or deliberate quit each map to separate endings — see full trees on endings guide.

Deep Wiki I, II & III — walkthrough gates

Every phase in this Welcome to the Game III walkthrough maps to a Deep Wiki tier. Keys are not consumed when pasted, but wrong portals or partial chains fail the run toward best ending.

TierWalkthrough phaseKeysUnlocks
Deep Wiki IPhase 1–21–3Competitor map · Claffis gates
Deep Wiki IIPhase 34–6VirtMesh races · Bomb Maker access
Deep Wiki IIIPhase 47–8Finale submit · Wade confrontation

Deep Wiki I — keys 1–3 (phase 1–2)

Unlock Deep Wiki I from Hive or Invitation Portal seeds after Key 1 validates. Keys 2–3 often require cross-site chains — finish the chain before pasting into tier I fields. Claffis-style gate puzzles (hex codes, captcha phrases) block tier II until solved.

Phase-two checkpoint: paste Keys 1–3 only when each string matches source casing. Competitor widgets appear on desktop after tier I unlock — note rival names for A.C.R.S. counters in phase three.

Deep Wiki II — keys 4–6 (phase 3)

Tier II opens competitor race pages and VirtMesh subnet URLs. Keys 5–6 frequently require mounted browsers — breach a second hijack before pasting Key 5 fragments found on subnet-only hosts.

Bomb Maker site access often gates here — visit only after killers guide defusal prep and a Normal hourly save. Decline Wade side-bet chats that promise faster keys; those flags route to betrayal endings on endings.

Deep Wiki III — keys 7–8 (phase 4)

Final tier hosts the debt-clear submit form. Keys 7–8 hide on Wade-linked evidence archives. Assemble all eight four-character segments in your notes file, diff character-by-character, then submit once.

Finale hour still spawns Tanner, Lucas, and Noir — empty the parking lot on cam before clicking submit, rear door locked, NOP ready for post-submit hacks until credits.

1337 mode walkthrough differences

1337 mode uses the same key phases but removes hourly checkpoints and adds fail-fast timers on every minigame. Walk the identical route faster — buy NOP Sled before first hack without exception.

1337-only habits

Manual Steam F5 saves do not exist in permadeath — treat every Breather run and Bomb Maker defusal as win-or-delete.

1337-exclusive ending unlocks require a clean completion — pair with achievements God Gamer / Blackhat planning on separate attempts.

Welcome to the Game III walkthrough FAQ

How long is a full Normal clear?

First run 4–8 hours depending on key RNG and threat overlap. 100% with achievements ~15 hours.

Can I collect keys out of order?

Often yes for keys 1–4, but Deep Wiki gates may block assembly until prerequisites exist — follow phase goals.

When should I buy Pheonix mining?

Phase 3 after VM Mount upgrade — see hacking guide VirtMesh table.

What if Tanner spawns during a hack?

NOP Sled the hack, then execute Tanner guide lockdown.

How do I beat competitor NPCs?

A.C.R.S. offensive hires, faster bookmarking, and racing to mount subnets before they lock you out.

Does walkthrough order change in 1337?

Phases match; timing compresses and checkpoints vanish — buy NOP immediately.

Where do Deep Wiki tiers fit the walkthrough?

Phase 1–2 → Deep Wiki I · Phase 3 → Deep Wiki II · Phase 4 → Deep Wiki III submit — see Deep Wiki section above.

Should I hire hitmen during the walkthrough?

Only when a named competitor blocks your only Key 5–6 URL — sensors and NOP matter more early.

How many meth bags should I carry for Cletus?

Exactly one meth bag — carrying extras gets them all confiscated. Loot during phase one prep; see killers guide Cletus row.
